Education in Safety Harbor

Education is important to the City of Safety Harbor. Preschool activities begin early with an organized program of activities through the Safety Harbor Parks. As a part of the Pinellas County School System, Safety Harbor's young people attend one of two elementary schools in our city and go on to the Safety Harbor Middle School. High school students attend Countryside High School. In the 2009 ratings of Florida public schools, the Safety Harbor Elementary School and Safety Harbor Middle School had a combined ranking of 9, with 10 being the highest. The Middle School's overall ranking was 10, indicating that it is among the finest in the state.
For those who prefer private school learning, Espiritu Santo Catholic School offers an excellent parochial education for student in grades K-8. Little People's Learning Center and Rainbow Garden D.C. provide preschool education, while Safety Harbor Montessori Academy serves students from the ages of 18 months through eighth grade. Clearwater Christian College is located at the south end of Bayshore Boulevard. Other nearby institutions of higher education include the University of South Florida and Tampa University in Tampa, Eckerd College in St. Petersburg and St. Petersburg Junior College's branch in Clearwater, a fine community college that offers education and training in many needed specialties.

Schools

There are two public schools within the city: Safety Harbor Elementary for grades 1-5 and Safety Harbor Middle School for grades 6-8. The middle school was rebuilt in 2004 and now has five buildings surrounding a central courtyard, with adjacent sports fields and a regulation track. As a joint project between the city of Safety Harbor and the school, the field and track facilities are open to the community. The nearest school for grades 9-12 is Countryside High School in Clearwater.
