Mease Countryside Hospital is one of four not-for-profit hospitals in the Morton Plant-Mease group of hospitals operated by BayCare Health Systems in the Tampa Bay-Clearwater-Dunedin area. The hospitals of Morton Plant Mease Health Care are part of the first group of hospitals nationally to have earned re-certification of the Gold Seal of ApprovalT for stroke care from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
Established in 1985, Mease Countryside Hospital actually is located in Safety Harbor. The hospital is the fastest-growing hospital in Pinellas County. Mease Countryside Hospital is located on 22 acres originally occupied by Mease Dunedin Hospital’s satellite clinic. As the needs of the community grew, Mease Hospital’s Board of Trustees responded by building a 100-bed hospital at the clinic site. Ground was broken in 1982 for the new Mease Countryside Hospital which opened in 1986.
Today, Mease Countryside Hospital continues to expand. It is a bustling 300-bed facility and has been honored 10 times in the past decade by Thomson’s 100 Top Hospitals National Benchmarks for Success studies. A recent $99 million expansion includes more operating rooms and inpatient beds, plus new Women and Children’s Center, Pediatric Unit and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, making it possible for Mease Countryside to deliver outstanding health care to patients of all ages.
Since its inception, Mease Countryside has been a recognized leader in service to its local community. Since 1997, Mease Countryside has been awarded nine Top 100 Hospital designations in the areas of stroke, orthopedic, intensive care and overall care by the Solucient 100 Top Hospitals: National Benchmarks for Success.
