Tampa Bay Mystery Series Author Shows Appreciation by Donating Book Sale Proceeds from Events
Author Rita Moreau’s latest addition to the popular Mary Catherine Mahoney mystery series, a novella, The Russian & Aunt Sophia, launched the week of March 13 and has been enjoying positive feedback! This book marks the fourth in the series and continues the quirky and zany adventures of MC Mahoney, Sister Hildegard and Sister Matilda. Moreau shows her appreciation by paying it forward. She makes it a practice to donate the proceeds from sales of her novel’s events to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur retirement home in Cincinnati, Ohio and the Indian Shores Library. “These wonderful nuns have made such a huge impact on so many people’s lives over the years. They are the inspiration for Feisty Nuns, the third in the Mary Catherine Mahoney mystery series of books. I like to donate proceeds to the retirement home whenever I can,” says Moreau. “Most people are not aware that the Sisters are responsible for all of their own living expenses. They receive no diocesan support in any city where they live or work,” added Moreau. Recently Florida’s Indian Shores Library held a book signing for The Russian & Aunt Sophia, a semi-finalist in the 2017 prestigious ScreenCraft Cinematic Short Story Contest. The event was well attended and Moreau donated the proceeds back to the library. The library responded to this gift on Facebook with a post (paraphrased), saying “Rita Moreau has generously donated the proceeds from the Launch Lunch sales of The Russian and Aunt Sophia to the library. We’ll plan on using the $250 for future literary events, book purchases, and community initiatives. Thank you Rita!” Other books in the Mary Catherine Mahoney series are, Nuns! Psychics! & Gypsies OH NO!!, and Bribing Saint Anthony. All are available on Amazon. And Moreau’s eBook Feisty Nuns! is now available on Amazon for 99 cents in honor of Sister Jean and March Madness.
