About Gecko World
Gulfport celebrates the Gecko each year with a series of whimsical events at the end of summer, all falling under “Gecko World” branding. The Gecko Ball occurs one week prior to the Annual GeckoFest street festival (August 31st), where guests are encouraged to show off their costumes again in the Fest’s walking parade. The Annual Gecko Crawl will be held August 10th, and the Annual “Art Gecko Show” reception will be held on August 2nd, revealing the large scale gecko art pieces created by local artists for the Gecko Ball live auction. All Gecko events are sponsored by the nonprofit Gulfport Merchants Chamber and a portion of proceeds is donated to local charities each year. Community Support Grants this year will be made to the Enroy Foundation, Gulfport Historical Society, and Women with Purpose.
