Get ready to fish your heart out at the 71st Annual Dennis Crenshaw Memorial FISH-A-THON. The St. Petersburg area offers a variety of public parks, something for every need or occasion. Jorgensen Lake Park is a quiet, serene setting perfect for anyone who loves feeling surrounded by the great outdoors and taking in the sights and sounds of native wildlife. Located at 37th St. N. and 11th Av. N., just behind the St. Petersburg Public Library, the park is the perfect destination after taking out a book. Visitors can find a comfortable spot to stretch out and get lost in a story.
This weekend, however, groups of fishing enthusiasts of different levels and age groups will gather at the park to take part in a fun, free activity hosted by St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation. Saturday, August 17, Jorgensen Lake serves as the backdrop for the 71st Annual Dennis Crenshaw Memorial FISH-A-THON.
Participants can register at 9 a.m. with the event kicking off at 9:30 a.m. Those interested will have six different 20-minute fishing periods for youth, teens and adults. Fishing poles and bait will be provided, and prizes awarded per category. For more information, click here.
