Benefits Shriners Children’s Hospital
Get ready for the 95th East West Shrine Bowl at Tropicana Field to benefit Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. The best college football players in the nation are coming to St. Petersburg to take their talents to the next level. The East-West Shrine Bowl is the oldest college football all-star game, now in its 95th year. Proceeds from the game will benefit Shriner’s Hospitals for Children. Tropicana Field. Game time is 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Tropicana Field, 1 Tropicana Drive in St. Pete.
Formerly called the East-West Shrine Game, the event has been played since 1925 to benefit Shriner’s Hospitals for Children and its mission to provide advanced care for children with specialized medical needs. Among the hundreds of notable college all-stars who have played in the East-West Shrine Bowl and gone on to illustrious NFL careers are Tom Brady, Walter Payton, Brett Favre, Gale Sayers, John Elway, Dick Butkus, Roger Staubach, Mike Ditka, Mark Brunell, Troy Vincent and Willie McGinest.

In any given season, approximately 300 East-West Shrine Bowl alumni are on NFL rosters, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame has inducted 77 former players from the game. Proceeds from the game have helped the Shriners treat and help more than 1.4 million children with special needs since 1922 in a compassionate family-centered environment, regardless of the families’ ability to pay.
The week’s festivities, which include the players’ visit to Shriners Healthcare for Children in Tampa on Sunday, Jan. 12, allow the top college senior football players an opportunity to showcase their talent to NFL scouts and a national television audience on the NFL Network. With more than 300 NFL scouts, coaches and agents in attendance, the East-West Shrine Bowl is a pivotal training and interview event for top college athletes seeking careers in professional football. See Free Practice Sessions Monday-Thursday
From Monday through Thursday, the teams will be practicing
at Tropicana Field. Practices are free and open to the public. Team practices
are an important part of the game-week experience. The general public is
welcome to attend practices; bleacher seating is available. No
outside food or beverages are allowed. Credentials are required for
field access; no exceptions are allowed.

Many special events will take place throughout the week including a Silent Auction that will run from Wednesday through Saturday, with a variety of vacation packages, autographed memorabilia, and much more, all to support a great cause. East-West Shrine Bowl Player Experience
On Friday, Jan. 17, fans will have an opportunity to participate in the East-West Shrine Bowl Player Experience. Come meet the nation’s premier college all-star players, NFL coaches and Legend Team Captains at our new East-West Shrine Bowl Player Experience at Tropicana Field. You will be able to meet top NFL recruitment prospects from the best schools in the country, as well as current NFL coaches from a variety of teams in the league. Also present will be our 2020 NFL Legend Team Captains. Our NFL Legend Team Captains are accomplished, well-known NFL players who, in partnership with the NFL, work one-on-one with our all-star players throughout the week to enhance their professional development. Hall of Fame Awards and Player Reception
On Friday evening, January 17, visit at the TradeWinds Island Grand Resort in St. Petersburg for the East-West Shrine Bowl Hall of Fame Induction reception, presented by Moore DM Group. This includes the 2020 Shrine Bowl college football all-stars, NFL coaches and staff, NFL executives and our 2020 Hall of Fame inductees. The Cocktail Reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by the Induction Reception at 7. TradeWinds Island Grand Resort is located at 5500 Gulf Blvd. in St, Pete Beach.

A highlight of the evening is the presentation of the Pat Tillman Award and gifts to each of the participating all-stars. Pat Tillman was an all-star NFL player who joined the U.S. Army after the 9/11 attack. An award is presented in his name each year to honor someone who has rendered outstanding service to the country. Attendees will also have an opportunity to meet some of our biggest heroes, our Shriners Hospitals for Children patients, including Shriners Hospitals for Children’s 2019–2020 National Patient Ambassadors.
