Lucky Lobster
Connecticut Style Lobster Roll

A ‘Lucky’ Find for Foodies

Lucky Lobster’s success is the product of over 36 years of partnership between owner Brian Lydon and manager Tom Murphy, with restaurants in New York City and Marco Island. Relocating to the Tampa Bay area in 2017, Dunedin’s Lucky Lobster Company opened at its new location, 941 Huntley Ave. in Dunedin.

While Brian travels to raise funds for countries suffering from natural disasters, you’ll find Tom at the restaurant almost every waking moment. “At the end of the day I go home with a smile on my face, because making people happy makes me happy!”

The menu offers wide variety and ample portions: appetizers, salads (grilled octopus and lobster Cobb are popular), fish tacos, pizzas, classic seafood dishes like grouper sourced from the Gulf, salmon, shrimp, sea scallops, crab cakes, ahi tuna. There’s even a raw bar with blue point oysters, clams and shrimp.  Burgers come in a variety of flavor combinations, and you’ll find a lobster burger on that menu too!

“Lucky” can also mean “on a roll,” and it is indeed its lobster rolls that have made Lucky Lobster famous.  Choose classic chilled Maine lobster in a New England mix of mayo, celery, onion and chives, stuffed in a toasted potato roll, or Connecticut-style: a mound of steamed lobster inside a toasted roll, with a side of drawn butter ( as in featured image above) .  As Alex pointed out, you can enjoy the delicious lobster meat without the work of cracking shells!

The sensory voyage for me and my husband began with server Alec’s refreshing Chambord-infused mojito, delicately rich lobster bisque, and New England clam chowder. Next came crisply-fried, tender calamari and succulent oysters Rockefeller with spinach and Parmesan cheese.

Lobster sliders flavorfully blend smoke applewood bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado with big chunks of lobster in New England-mix sauce. Shrimp, lobster and melted smoked Gouda in cream sauce aioli combine for a delicious “outside the box” pizza.

Scrumptious coconut cream and piquant Key lime pie desserts complete this delightful dining experience.

It takes more than one visit to enjoy so many choices: seafood from New England and the Gulf of Mexico, locally-sourced vegetables, homemade sauces, dressings, soups, pastas and desserts. Add creative cocktails juiced in-house, 17 craft beers and a well-balanced wine list, along with live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday or jazz on Sunday, and you can “kick back, dig in and enjoy!”
