American Stage Theatre will present the Tampa Bay Area Premiere of The Roommate by Jen Silverman beginning Wednesday, March 13, and running through Sunday, April 7. In The Roommate the Odd Couple meets Thelma and Louise in this wickedly funny comedy. With a recent divorce and her son living across the country, 50-something Sharon posts a listing for a roommate to fill the empty space in her Iowa home. Enter Robyn, a fascinating woman who needs a place to hide and the chance to start over. This comical mismatch leads to a surprising and touching friendship that cleverly navigates the rocky roads of change and examines what happens when the wheels come off. This show is recommended for those over 14 years of age.
The Roommate will be performed on Wednesdays through Sundays during the scheduled period. Wednesday and Thursday evening performances begin at 7:30, while Friday and Saturday shows start at 8. Matinees are scheduled for every Saturday and Sunday afternoon, beginning at 2 p.m. The Roommate is part of the Raymond James Mainstage Series and will be performed at the Raymond James Theater, 163 3rd St. N in St. Pete.
