Boz Scaggs to Appear at The Cap

The Capitol Theatre presents GRAMMY® Award-winner Boz Scaggs on Monday, May 7 at 7:30 pm.

GRAMMY® Award-winner William Royce “Boz” Scaggs began a long and storied career in 1965 with the release of his first solo recording Boz. Scaggs quickly developed into an iconic singer-songwriter, notably honing his rock and R&B chops working with the likes of the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and Duane Allman. In 1976, Scaggs achieved multi-platinum success with Silk Degrees (Lowdown, Lido Shuffle, What Can I Say, We’re All Alone) and its follow ups Look What You’ve Done To Me (from the Urban Cowboy soundtrack) and Heart of Mine. For his 2013 album release, Memphis, Scaggs worked with producer Steve Jordan and a telepathic core band consisting of Jordan on drums, Willie Weeks on Bass, Ray Parker, Jr. on rhythm guitar and Jim Cox on keyboards. Scaggs enlisted Jordan and Memphis bandmates for his 2015 critically-acclaimed album, A Fool to Care. The album included a vocal duet from Bonnie Raitt as well as her characteristically sizzling slide guitar on Hell to Pay and Lucinda Williams, who closes out the album with Scaggs on Whispering Pines.

Raised in Texas with an abiding respect for a wide spectrum of American roots music, Scaggs has combined rock, jazz, R&B and blues to create a trademark sound. With an extensive and distinctive career that has spanned 30 years and received many accolades, Scaggs continues to prove himself as one of music’s most creative and original artists.
