The City of Largo has added a new camp to its lineup this year that give kids the chance to become an auto tech for a week. In partnership with Ford Motor Company and Pinellas Technical College, Ford Tech Academy camp lets students work side by side with trained mechanics as they learn about car motors and the auto industry using STEM concepts.
This program stemmed from a Ford initiative to recruit future techs by sponsoring camps and programs to spark the interest of middle schoolers in hopes that they will continue the path to becoming an auto tech.
Camp is being held from May 31-June 3 from 9am-12pm at Pinellas Technical College Clearwater Campus, located at 154th Ave N in Clearwater.
