Revolutionary Glass

The founders of studio glass had a dream that one day glass would take its place among other media as a material for making fine art. Curator William Warmus and Artist Tim Tate sincerely believe this is true, but around 2014 they kept hearing from various quarters that important fine art galleries and museums were refusing to show work in glass, deeming it inconsequential. Could this be so, if not, how to prove it?

They decided to visit Art Basel, Art Miami, Scope, Context, Aqua and a host of other fine art expos every year and document the works made from glass. This lecture shows, in stunning images, the results of
their project from the last five years’ worth of travel. They not only proved the critics wrong, they discovered a wonderful and remarkable world of masterpieces in glass by famous artists like Ai Weiwei,
Olafur Eliasson, Gerhard Richter, Roni Horn and dozens of others.

More than anything else, Tate and Warmus seek to share their growing excitement as they discovered that a revolution is taking place in how artists use glass abstractly or realistically, to convey narratives or
as an incredible tool for advanced conceptual art: and the results are being shown at the most prestigious art galleries on the planet, and acquired by the world’s most advanced collectors and museums.

Don’t miss out on this!
