St. Pete Opera will present the operatic version of Kiss Me Kate this month. A Shakespeare troupe is putting on The Taming of the Shrew, but the cast is embroiled in interpersonal relationships that lead to offstage bickering and onstage surprises. Cole Porter’s score, performed with the original-size Broadway orchestra, is filled with great numbers such as “So In Love,” “Too Darn Hot,” “Why Can’t You Behave?” and “Brush Up Your Shakespeare.”
Bring your tap shoes because you’ll want to leave the theater dancing. Multiple show times will be available at The Palladium, 253 5the Ave. N in St. Pete, between February 2 and 10. Show times are Saturday, Feb. 2, and Sunday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m.; Tuesday, Feb. 5, and Friday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. Tickets are available only through St. Pete Opera Company: by calling (727) 823-2040.
