Veterans Day Fall Fly on TI
November 11 and 12 2017 – 10am-5pm
KITE FESTIVAL ON TREASURE ISLAND BEACH TO HONOR VETERANS
The “Veterans Day Fall Fly on TI” is slated this year for November 11th & 12th on Treasure Island Beach behind the Thunderbird Beach Resort. The theme for the weekend… “Honor America’s Veterans”, featuring red, white and blue kites, banners and flags galore. This free, family-oriented event will feature general kite flying, kite games, stunt kite lessons and demos as well as a chance to honor Veterans by flying a kite.
There is no formal competition however, new and experienced flyers are encouraged to bring out their best Red, White and Blue and share the freedom of kite flying by sharing kite knowledge and including the public.
The festival is sponsored by Windworks, The City of Treasure Island and our top sponsor The Thunderbird Beach Resort which is also the events host hotel. Contact them for room reservations at (727) 367-1961 Let them know you are coming for the festival for a special rate!
Parking is available in the following locations: Public lot across the street from the Waffle House on Gulf Blvd, and at 104 Ave Gulf Blvd. American Legion Post # 158 of Treasure Island will be on hand to help with the activities.
The kite festival will launch the morning of Saturday, November 11th and continue thru the weekend. After dark on Saturday, kite flyers are urged to add lights to their kites for a night fly (weather and wind permitting). Windworks will be on hand over the weekend to sell kites, line and other toys for all your wind needs. All activities at the Veterans Day Fall Fly at TI are free. For more information contact:
