Last time I heard of Restorative I thought of the unique home design store-not a best dining destination. But the Restorative Restaurant in Dunedin Florida is a gem that was a rich savory find! This is and extremely small, quaint yet elegant restaurant that serves up some of the best light dishes found in a small strip center. To keep things fresh and exciting they change their menu every two to three days. You need to try something from the beginnings, middles and endings to make your meal complete. Pair your selection with the chef’s selection of fine wines.
Start your meal with a beginning treat offering everything from heirloom tomatoes tartine with whipped goat cheese and fresh basil (as shown in photo-right), hand rolled garganelli, pomadoro and basil or even wild caught shrimp tossed in garlic and olive oil with a hint of lemon. These small plate appetizers are truly just the beginning. (They make all of their own bread, pasta and more!)
For the middle of your meal chose from all fresh and local ingredients when possible. The delicately cooked salmon, with fresh mushroom and bok choy dish was complimented by tamari and miso butter a healthy dish that was second to none (shown in photo-left). For the beef lover they offered the Florida wagyu beef cheek for two, baby peppers, onions and chimichurri. These are usually lighter and more delicate dishes than found in the chain restaurants, but this allows you room to try the beginnings and don’t forget the endings.
The endings offered during this evening included an oatmeal raisin sticky bun toffee pudding, with chocolate ganache and caramel (shown in photo above). This restaurant is hard to get into since it has such a small seating, but it is immaculate and quaint. The server ended the experience with a hand written thank you card a long lost treasure. Now where do you find that anywhere these days. Restorative restaurant is a must try experience for anyone visiting the Destination Tampa Bay area. Although locals are usually filling the place it is a best dining destination. They are open for walk-ins only and don’t have a phone, but they always answer their emails!
