The annual Gecko Ball has become known as Gulfport’s party of the year! In addition to the live auction of the artist’s geckos, the event includes dozens of silent auction items, costume contests, the annual coronation of the Gecko Queen, catered tapas, cash bar, live music, dancing and more. The Gecko Ball will be held at the Gulfport Casino Ballroom at 5500 Shore Blvd. in Gulfport.
This year’s theme is “Gecko’s of the Round Table,” inviting all event guests to embrace medieval times and tales of yore. Attendees to the ball will be dressed to impress as costumes are strongly encouraged, and those with the best till be entered in a costume contest and judged by a panel of anonymous judges. Winners will be selected in three categories: Individual, Couple and Group. Guests will also witness the whimsical coronation of Gulfport’s next Gecko Queen, which for the first time ever is being voted on by the public.
The Gecko Ball is another highlight in a month-long series of Gecko events in Gulfport that will climax the following week at GeckoFest. All Gecko events are sponsored by the non-profit Gulfport Merchants Chamber. A portion of the proceeds from all the Gecko events will be given to local charities.
