Hands Across the Sand is an international movement represented by a local group of area businesses and residents in the community who have come together for a common cause. The group, which crosses political affiliations, geographic borders and both social and economic backgrounds, has united with the common goals of protecting the oceans, marine life and other wildlife, and the environment.
This Saturday, May 18, members of the Hands Across the Sand group will gather on the Clearwater Beach shoreline behind and between Frenchy’s and Palm Pavilion restaurants to kick off a morning beach cleanup at 10:30 a.m. Later, between 11:45 a.m. and noon, the group joins hands along the shore to symbolize the importance of community efforts to defend the environment against offshore oil drilling and seismic testing. Information tables will be set up for new visitors who wish to learn more about the group.
