A little over 50 years ago, 15 Bay area congregations joined forces to combine their efforts to provide assistance to local individuals and families in need. The organization Religious Community Services became better known as RCS and launched The Haven as a safe place and resource center to aid those facing hunger, homelessness, domestic violence and basic needs.
East Lake Community Library partners once again with the Haven of RCS to host The Giving Tree, providing holiday gifts for young victims of domestic abuse supported by The RCS Haven’s shelters, transitional housing and outreach programs. Visitors can stop by the Library and choose a paper ornament from the tree to buy a gift and return by December 8 with their unwrapped gift for their recipient with the child’s paper ornament attached.
