Her songs have been recorded by countless diverse artists. Ian’s art is not for the faint of heart. Her first hit (Society’s Child, at age 14) ignited a storm among radio broadcasters and listeners for its unflinching look at the relationship between a black boy and a white girl.  Her art is still fresh, powerful and passionate. In 2013 she won a GRAMMY®, for her spoken word album, Society’s Child.
