On February 2, PARC is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Discovery Learning Center Play Safe Park, which is an amazing extension of the children services programs that PARC offers. This event takes place on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 9:30am at PARC’s Discovery Learning Center, located at 3100 75th St. N in St. Petersburg. During the program, there will be a ribbon cutting, delicious morning refreshments provided by Craving Donuts, as well as tours of the center. Mayor Rick Kriseman is scheduled to kick off the event.
The focus of this ribbon cutting is to thank the incredible donors that made this playground possible. Quickly gaining the reputation as the “best playground in the county”, the Safe Play Park is supported by donors such as Dr. Douglas and Lauren Carlan, The James M. Cox Foundation, Juvenile Welfare Board, LARC/Parents, Guardians & Friends of PARC, Joe and Jennifer Minutolo, MAXIMUS Foundation, Pinellas Community Foundation, Publix Super Markets Charities, and The White Family Foundation.
Karen Higgins, PARC President & CEO, is elated that the playground is complete. “It is such a joy to watch the children in our services run, laugh, play and most importantly, learn out there every day in a completely safe environment,” Higgins said, “and this was only possible through the most generous supporters in our community. We are forever grateful.” PARC is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide opportunities for children and adults with developmental disabilities to exercise their independence and experience life to the fullest.
