Piano Legend George Winston

To Perform March 8 at The Palladium

Master musician George Winston will perform at the Palladium Theater at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, as part of the “Mahaffey on the Move” concert series.  Winston’s melodic folk piano, through the platinum-selling albums Autumn, December, Winter Into Spring and Linus and Lucy – The Music of Vince Guaraldi, has established a creative musical legacy. The versatile Winston’s catalogue also includes Night Divides the Day – The Music of the Doors, Montana – A Love Story, Gulf Coast Blues and Impressions 1 & 2 – overall 14 recordings that stretch and expand on the solo piano vocabulary.

Scheduled for release on March 31, Spring Carousel – A Cancer Research Benefit is his latest recorded project. Sometimes concentrating on seven-string acoustic guitar, Hawaiian slack-key guitar and harmonica, Winston has always refused to strictly categorize his music. “I just play the songs the best I can,” he says, “inspired by the seasons and the topographies and regions, and, occasionally, by sociological elements, and try to improve as a player over time.”

The Palladium Theater is located at 253 5th Avenue N., St. Petersburg. Please join us in support of a local food bank by bringing a donation of canned food to the concert. There will be collection baskets at the entrances.  Tickets may be purchased online at themahaffey.com, charge by phone at 727.893.7832 or in person at The Mahaffey Theater Box Office. The Mahaffey Box Office is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday or at least 90 minutes prior to any ticketed event.
