Nature lovers are invited to come to Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, to join Clearwater Marine Aquarium to kick off sea turtle nesting season. All are welcome to help clean the beach for the sea turtle hatchlings and nesting females as sea turtle nesting season approaches. Stay after for some more fun in the sun with educational activities with the sea turtle team, focusing on sea turtle nesting and conservation. Limited parking is available at Pier 60 for an hourly fee. The event is supported by Duke Energy and will end by 1 p.m.
Participants are asked to bring their own utility or garden gloves to reduce plastic waste. Additional gloves, burlap bags and buckets will be available to collect items, which people can bring back to Pier 60 to receive a goodie bag. To protect the environment, they will be using buckets instead of plastic trash bags. Participants are also encouraged to bring a hat, sunscreen, reusable water bottle and comfortable walking shoes and, if possible, to donate items to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s Sea Turtle Nesting Wish List, available online.
