The Clearwater Threshers extends a special invitation once again to baseball fans ages 55 and older as its Silver Sharks Club returns for a 14th season at Spectrum Field this summer. Presented by Belcher Bingo, the Silver Sharks Club offers discounted admission and parking to seniors for Wednesday home games to see the Philadelphia Phillies’ high-A minor league baseball team in action, in addition to providing members other club perks.
Robert Stretch, Community Engagement and Media Manager for the Clearwater Threshers, notes that the seniors club is a longstanding program, in place since Spectrum Field’s debut back in 2004. “We are always looking for ways to connect with the community and our fans and having both kids’ and seniors’ clubs are great ways to do that,” he says.
Annual membership is $25 per senior. Guests can register during any game at the BayCare Box Office at Spectrum Field in Clearwater or download and complete the Silver Sharks Sign Up form and mail it with a check payable to “Phillies Florida LLC” for $25.
Membership includes free tickets and parking for all Wednesday home games, a 20% discount at the Spectrum Field Team Store, a free Silver Sharks seat cushion and new this season, a free Threshers auto sun shade. Plus, members receive one of the most unique membership perks of all: every Wednesday, a different Silver Shark member throws out the first pitch. The Wednesday home game schedule starts April 11.
“April 11 is Senior Day presented by WellCare,” Stretch says. “We will have great picnic food and beverage options available for purchase, and reps from WellCare will be on hand with health and lifestyle information and interactive displays.”
In addition to its Silver Sharks Club for seniors, the Threshers offer a program aimed at younger fans, the Lil’ Anglers Club, Thursday nights at Spectrum Field. For $25, kids 13 years and younger can enjoy free admission in a premium box seat for all 13 Thursday home games and get to take part in special activities including a pre-game catch with Mom or Dad and a run of the bases with other kids post-game. Members also receive a baseball cap, exclusive club T-shirt, Threshers drawstring bag, membership card and food vouchers. Lil’ Anglers is presented by the Tampa Bay Times and Kendrick Graphics.
