Tampa Bay’s LGBT Pride Celebration

Brings Thousands to St. Petersburg

June 21-23, 2019

Two hundred and fifty thousand people are expected to come to St. Petersburg to celebrate the power and beauty of diversity in the LGBT community this month at he LGBT Pride Festival. See over-the-top floats, lavish costumes, incredible live performances, and a firework spectacular along St Pete’s beautiful downtown waterfront as the 17th LGBT Pride Celebration takes place from Wednesday through Sunday, June 19 to 23. It will begin on Wednesday, June 19, with a free Kickoff Party with an open bar from 7 to 10 p.m. in St. Pete Beach at the Sirata Beach Resort.

The celebration continues on Thursday, June 20, with the Stonewall St. Pete Pride Reception. On Friday it will be an outdoor concert in North Straub Park featuring Lisa Loeb and on Saturday, June 22, with the exciting Tech Data parade and an after-parade concert, featuring Rita Ora in North Straub Park. To end the week’s activities, the St. Pete Pride Street Festival on Sunday from 11 to 5 will bring thousands to Central Avenue in the Grand Central District of St. Pete.  The purpose of St Pete Pride is to promote unity, visibility, self-esteem and a positive image of and among the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community of Tampa Bay and throughout the State of Florida by way of cultural and educational programs and activities.

Kick-Off Party Wednesday, June 19

The Sirata Beach Resort at 5300 Gulf Blvd. will host the opening Kick-Off Party for this year’s St. Pete Pride Festival from 7 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19. Fresh off a $15 million renovation, the 13-acre resort provides a unique private beach venue. The new Beachwalk allows guests to enjoy drinks from an open bar, the tropical landscape and the sunset while strolling from one end of the resort to the other right along the beach. The Sirata offers the perfect combination of sweeping views of nature while maintaining an urban vibe, making this Pride Party an event like no other during the weekend. Admission to this event is free.

Stonewall Reception on Thursday, June 20

Hosted and sponsored by the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, the Stonewall Reception by St Pete Pride will feature an open full bar and light hors d’oeuvres. The event commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the birthplace of America’s gay rights movement.

SP2 Outdoor Concert on Friday, June 21

Participants will dance in the streets at this year’s annual SP2 outdoor concert on Friday, June 21, featuring Lisa Loeb! Donations are encouraged at the entrance as proceeds will benefit the St. Pete Pride Community Grants Program. Pop-up bars will be stationed at the event with beverages to keep you cool as the concert heats up the night from 6 to 10 p.m. VIP tickets are available for $50. 

Tech Date St. Pete Pride Parade Saturday, June 22

The big Tech Date St. Pete Pride parade will be held Saturday, June 22. The Saturday Party begins at 2 p m, with the Parade kicking off at 7:15pm. The event will continue until 11 p.m. The party will continue after the St. Pete Pride Parade with a FREE concert featuring Rita Ora from 9:30 – 11 p.m. in North Straub Park. VIP tickets are available. 

St. Pete Pride Street Festival Sunday, June 23

On Sunday,June 23, more than 50,000 people are expected to attend the big St. Pete Pride Street Festival on Central Avenue in St. Pete’s Grand Central District from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. The Festival will again be the largest community event of the season as festival goers come together to make history while enjoying a day of live performances and entertainment, community booths, art and fantastic food.

To Perform in St. Pete Pride Concerts

Songstress Lisa Loeb will headline this year’s annual SP2 outdoor concert on Friday, June 21. Donations are encouraged at the entrance as proceeds will benefit the St. Pete Pride Community Grants Program. Pop-up bars will be stationed at the event with beverages to keep you cool as the concert heats up the night from 7 to 10 p.m. VIP tickets are available for $50. Lisa Loeb is recognized for her platinum-selling number one hit song, “Stay.” The SP2 Concert will take place in North Straub Park, 400 Bayshore Drive, from 7 to 10 p.m. Other acts for the concert will be announced shortly. This is a FREE concert, with VIP tickets available.

British recording artist Rita Ora headlines the first- ever After-Parade St. Pete Pride Concert on Saturday, June 22. Her global hit “Your Song,” written by Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac, has reached more than 352 million streams. Other singles include “Lonely Together” with Avicii, “For You” with Liam Payne, as well as her girl-power anthem “Girls” which saw Rita team up with Cardi B, Bebe Rexha and Charli XCX.  The After-Parade Concert will begin shortly after the conclusion of the parade at approximately 9:30 p.m. in North Straub Park.
